I grew up in northern Iowa where I played football, and basketball, and ran track in high school. I went to college at the University of Northern Iowa where I majored in and received a BA in biology. I also participated in club track and intramurals. During my sports activities, I experienced several injuries to my shoulder and several hamstring pulls. This led me to pursue physical therapy as a career. After graduating from UNI, I attended Des Moines University where I received my doctorate in physical therapy.

Out of school, I worked at Athletico in Forest City for 3 years. I then moved to the Charlotte North Carolina area where I ran my clinic for 2 years. Looking at what my wife and I wanted for our family moving forward we decided that it was best for our family to be in the Des Moines area, and that is when I started at Kaizen.

I’m the manual therapy ninja here at Kaizen Health and Wellness. I really like working on ACL rehab, return to sports services, overhead athletes, and throwing. I want to inform our patients who have a lack of knowledge on the importance of movement, sport, and training. I enjoy treating knee sprains, hamstring strains, knee pain, shoulder pain, biceps tendonitis

I love working here because of the passionate clinicians who enjoy what they do and create a positive, welcoming, and energetic environment that allows patients to thrive and achieve their goals.

When I’m not at working I love spending time with my family at parks, bike riding, working out, CrossFit, being involved in our church and church small group, smoking meats, and coding/programming.

Patient Testimonials

“Kaizen is by far the top PT. My kids and myself both see Josh and he is amazing. He takes time to understand the issues and pushes each of us to ensure we remain strong while working at the root of the issue. My daughter’s shoulder improved after just a few sessions, but we continue to work with Josh to keep her strong. My son had a sprained ankle and he worked with Bryan and after just a few sessions, he was out of his walking boot and staying active with his sports. I have seen both Bryan and Josh for my knee and shoulder. After three visits, I no longer had knee pain. They are the best PT’s and their personality is one that makes you feel welcome each and every time.”

“Had a great experience! I went to Kaizen for a naggy knee during half marathon training. Josh was great. He didn’t just say… stop running. We worked through it and I went on to finish my half training and the race pain free! If you are an athlete looking for a PT that gets that you want to keep working out and training this is the place to go!”

They know their stuff and tackle injury prevention and rehab in a functional way. Josh prioritizes understanding your sport/life activities and the movement patterns necessary to help you adjust and optimize how you move and what you’re doing. So glad I found this place and recommend them to others.”
